Spider Is 'Hired' for Trump International Hotel & Tower, Chicago

August 1, 2005

Seattle, WA - Spider, a division of SafeWorks, LLC, announces the award of the supply of the complete façade maintenance system for Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago.

The Trump Organization, building owner and developer, discovered Spider's outstanding reputation in the powered access industry and said, 'You're hired!' The expertise, experience and dependability that have made Spider the industry-leader are essential in a project of this magnitude.

The architecture of this 92-story skyscraper has four setbacks, which require a separate roof machine on each roof elevation. Type 3 jib arm roof machines will be installed on three of these elevations, and a custom-designed Type 6 crane style roof machine will be installed on the top level. This machine will be equipped with telescopic features enabling reaches in excess of 45 feet (15 m) horizontally and 35 feet (11 m) vertically. This roof mounted system will also be fitted with the latest in glass-handling technology. Independent traction hoists on the roof machine will enable the operator to lift and position glass into place with ease, increasing the application capabilities of the system.

Anthony Scacco, Project Manager with Bovis Lend Lease, the general contractor for Trump International Hotel & Tower, comments, "The attention received by this project and the unique aspects of the architecture make it a challenging endeavor, from a maintenance equipment perspective. Bovis is looking forward to working with Spider towards 100% client satisfaction in how those complexities are met."

Upon its completion, Trump International Hotel & Tower will be the second tallest building in Chicago and another icon in the city's historic skyline.

This project is scheduled to be completed in 2008.
