Spider to Provide Building Maintenance Unit for Residential Tower, One Rincon Hill

Seattle -Spider, a division of SafeWorks, LLC, has been awarded the contract to provide a façade maintenance system for acclaimed One Rincon Hill in San Francisco.

"Even though Bovis Lend Lease has worked with Spider on many projects, this is the first the first time I've used Spider in San Francisco," said Joseph Almirantearena, project manager from Bovis Lend Lease, the construction team working on One Rincon Hill. "We chose Spider for this project because Spider presented the best options for the ownership of One Rincon Hill at the most reasonable price."

Its sleek, modern 61-story design is catered to Spider's expertise in the supply and installation of complete façade maintenance systems. The unique system designed especially for One Rincon Hill will allow access for maintenance and cleaning of the vertical façade along with the replacement of glass panels.

These large tasks will be accomplished by using a low profile building maintenance unit that telescopes up in a unique parallelogram method and provides access over a 12-foot high parapet. This custom-made unit is one of two in the United States. When the base maintenance system is not in use, it maintains the lowest possible site line while in stored position.

Designed by architectural firm, Soloman Cordwell Buenz and Associates, One Rincon Hill is a unique addition to the San Francisco skyline and the most significant addition in 30 years. Based out of Chicago, this architectural firm has designed many high rises throughout Chicago as well as many other cities in the United States.

Almirantearena said this residential building is particularly high profile because of its historical location, its close proximity to the Bay Bridge and because it will be one of the tallest buildings in San Francisco.

Spider is scheduled to hoist the base maintenance unit on One Rincon Hill sometime during May 2007.
