Spider Excels in Pier Repair Project

February 22, 2006

Seattle, WA - Spider, a division of SafeWorks, LLC, recently supplied twenty-four 1,500 lb. capacity traction hoists and two custom designed float platforms to enable repair of two piers of Route 81's southbound bridge in Lenoxville, Pennsylvania.

The customer, Nyleve Bridge Corporation, required 360 degree access at variable work levels to two concrete bridge piers. To accomplish this, Spider designed and engineered custom float platforms, powered by a total of twenty-four of its reliable SC40 1,500 lb. capacity traction hoists. Spider also supervised the installation and remained on site to re-engineer these platforms, increasing the load capacity and functionality according to the customer's needs.

Spider's engineering experience and dedication to worker safety enabled repair workers to keep their tools at optimal work levels while aboard the platforms, eliminating injuries caused by straining and operating at poor angles. Mike Sesson, Superintendent with Nyleve Bridge Corporation, spoke favorably about Spider's contributions: "The scope of this repair project continually changed as we progressed with the work, and Spider rapidly satisfied our access needs throughout these changes. Excellent customer service was consistently provided, especially by Jim Dougherty, Spider's Industrial Access & Safety Specialist, who oversaw the project."

The six-month project is expected to be completed in April.
