Spider Awarded High-Rise Residential Contract of The Plaza Irvine

July 25, 2005

Seattle, WA - Spider, a division of SafeWorks, LLC, announces the award of Phase I and Phase II of The Plaza Irvine, a double-tower, high-rise residential project located in Irvine, California.

Each tower will stand 150 feet and will contain over one hundred condominiums. With the increased popularity of high-rise construction in Orange County, Opus West, the building owner, developer, and general contractor of The Plaza Irvine, has turned to Spider for its expertise in this area. "We've made a commitment to using subcontractors that are familiar with high-rise residential," states Matt Montgomery, senior manager with Opus.

The architectural cornice of the structure presented a unique access challenge that required a custom-engineered solution only Spider could provide. Typical davit systems are static, inhibiting the ability to adjust the suspension point. However, the proprietary Spider High Profile Trolley Davit product was developed to enable the operator to safely adjust the suspension point to maneuver the self-powered platform into the optimum working position. This assists in achieving complete exterior access of the structure.

This project is scheduled to be completed in December 2006
